Roman Akasov Scientific Research Center Crystallography and Photonics of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Moscow, Russia.
Roman Akasov was born in Cheboksary (Chuvash Republic, Russia) in 1987. He got his Master's Degree in Biotechnology from Mendeleev University of Chemical Technology of Russia (Moscow, Russia) in 2011. He entered the cotutelle PhD program between the Shemyakin and Ovchinnikov Institute of Bioorganic Chemistry (Moscow, Russia) and the University of Strasbourg (Strasbourg, France). The PhD degree in Biotechnology was awarded in Strasbourg in 2017, thesis topic was "Novel 3D in vitro models based on multicellular tumor spheroids for testing antitumor drugs and delivery vehicles".
The research interests of Dr. Akasov include nanomaterials, biomaging, 3D cell culture, anticancer research, and tissue engineering. Currently he works as senior researcher at Scientific Research Center Crystallography and Photonics of the Russian Academy of Sciences (Moscow, Russia), Sechenov First Moscow State Medical University (Moscow, Russia), and Moscow State Pedagogical University (Moscow, Russia).
报告内容简介
Upconversion nanoparticles (UCNPs) are the unique optical materials that are able to absorb near-infrared light and produce an intense anti-Stokes photoluminescence, including multiple narrow bands in the ultraviolet, visible, and infrared regions. The upconversion nanoparticles demonstrate a high conversion coefficient and photostability, and could be a promising tool for various biomedical applications, including bioimaging, photodynamic therapy, and photopolymerization due to the photoactivation in the so-called biotissue transparency window (650 -1350 nm). In this talk, I will focus on various aspects of upconversion nanoparticles in biomedicine, including Förster resonance energy transfer in UCNP-based systems, the biofunctionalization of UCNP surface, and UCNP-mediated 3D printing. This report will summarize the 10 years of practical experience of our laboratory led by Dr. E. Khaydukov in the study and practical implementation of upconversion materials. It could be interesting to a broad audience of researchers working in the field of nanomaterials, biophotonics, and life sciences.
